How It Works
Dark spot treatment works on the same principle as laser hair removal, just aimed at a different target. Concentrated light energy is absorbed by the excess melanin clustered in a sun spot far more readily than by the surrounding skin. That energy breaks the pigment into fragments small enough for your body to carry away.
What surprises most clients is the speed. Over the first few days after treatment, the spots typically darken — sometimes noticeably — then flake away over the following week or two. It looks alarming if nobody warns you, which is exactly why we do. That darkening is the treatment working, not a reaction.
Because the pigment is a discrete target rather than a structure being rebuilt, this is one of the fastest treatments on our menu: most clients need 2–6 sessions. It’s a common entry point for people who want to see what professional treatment can do before committing to a longer course of anything else.

Nancy examines each area of pigment. This step is not a formality — some pigmented lesions need a doctor’s eyes rather than a laser, and anything that looks irregular gets referred rather than treated.
A small test area confirms safe settings for your skin tone before any full treatment goes ahead.
Protective eyewear on, Nancy targets each spot individually. You’ll feel a brief snap on each pulse. A face takes about 30 minutes; hands and chest slightly longer.
Treated spots darken and form fine crusts. This is the expected response. Don’t pick at them — let them lift on their own.
The darkened pigment flakes away, leaving clearer skin underneath. Most clients want a second session to catch deeper pigment.

Every session is performed by Nancy Becerril, a certified laser technician, licensed and insured. She will also tell you when a pigmented spot should be looked at by a physician rather than treated cosmetically — a laser removes the appearance of a lesion, and that is not always the right outcome.
