How It Works
Spider veins — telangiectasia, properly — are tiny blood vessels that have widened close enough to the surface to become visible, branching in red, blue or purple threads across the legs, ankles, cheeks and nose. They’re extremely common, they’re usually harmless, and they tend to be far more bothersome than they are medically significant.
Laser treatment works because haemoglobin absorbs the laser’s energy far more readily than surrounding tissue. The vessel wall heats, collapses, and is gradually cleared away by your body over the following weeks. Nothing is injected and nothing is removed surgically — the vein is simply closed and reabsorbed, with blood rerouting through deeper vessels you can’t see.
Fading is gradual, taking 3–6 weeks per session, and most clients need 2–4 sessions spaced six weeks apart. One honest caveat: laser handles fine surface veins very well. Larger bulging varicose veins are a different problem requiring vascular assessment, and we refer those on rather than treat them.

Nancy examines the veins and checks whether they’re suitable for laser. Bulging, ropey or painful veins, or any history of blood clots, mean a vascular referral rather than a cosmetic treatment.
A small test confirms safe settings for your skin tone, which matters more on legs than most people expect.
Protective eyewear on, Nancy traces each vein with the laser. You’ll feel a warm snap along the vessel. A set of legs takes about 30 minutes.
Treated veins may darken, look slightly bruised or briefly appear more visible. This is normal and part of clearing. Mild redness settles within hours.
Veins fade progressively as your body reabsorbs them. A second session at six weeks catches whatever remains.
